Quel a été la meilleure chose quand
tu travaillais sur Harry Potter ?
Le finir ! C’est une de ces situations où on se dit "Merci
mon Dieu, c’est terminé !" et après on peut voir la
production finale. Mais travailler avec tous les autres était vraiment
génial. Travailler avec de grands acteurs et réaliser qu’ils
ne sont que des personnes normales qui ont un incroyable talent était
une expérience formidable.
Combien de gel devais-tu te mettre dans les cheveux ?
Parlons-en tiens ! Ce n’était pas du gel, mais du ciment ! Environ
un pot tous les jours.
Est-ce que c’est amusant de jouer un méchant ?
Absolument. C’était un peu différent, parce que quand on
pense à Harry Potter, on imagine un gentil film pour enfants présentant
de gentils personnages. Mais je suis celui qui chamboule tout ça. Mais
je pense vraiment que Drago sera toujours un sale petit snob !
Penses-tu que Harry et Drago pourraient devenir amis un jour ?
Heureusement non, ça gâcherait mon rôle ! Non absolument
pas. Je ne pourrais pas l’imaginer une seule seconde.
Comment c’était de travailler avec Daniel Radcliffe ?
C’est un enfant très malicieux. Il répandait toujours le
chaos. C’est lui qui était le plus présent sur le tournage
et je pense qu’il avait besoin de s’amuser, par exemple en empruntant
les portables des autres [NDLT : Celui de Robbie Coltrane, Hagrid, en l’occurrence
!] et paramétrer la langue en turc et pleins de choses de ce genre.
Il adore ça.
Une fois terminé, as-tu trouvé le film effrayant ?
Oh oui ! C’était vraiment terrible, en fait tout le monde croit
que je suis un homme sombre et dur, mais je suis du genre « aaah
! » tous ces serpents qui sortent de tous les côtés et
tout ça !
As-tu déjà vu la figurine de Drago ?
Oui, mes amis l’ont achetée dès qu’ils l’ont
vue, ont arraché mes bras et tordu mes jambes dans tous les sens. C’était
vraiment amusant !
Voudrais-tu faire une carrière d’acteur ?
Quelque soit ce que la vie me donnera, je le prendrai et en serai reconnaissant.
Je voudrais posséder mon garage et ma propre pêcherie. Je voudrais
aussi être un pêcheur professionnel. Mais je prendrai ce qu’on
me donne.
Quel genre de courrier de fan reçois-tu ?
La plupart des lettres disent toutes la même chose, mais je les lis
quand même. On reçoit et lit toutes ces lettres et finalement
on trouve celle qui est différente. Une femme japonaise m’a envoyé
une cuillère en bois pour Noël, pour me souhaiter bonne chance.
Les fans japonais envoient toujours des choses bizarres. Certaines personnes
ont envoyé des moitiés de cœurs et des cristaux cassés
et pleins de choses de la sorte, mais je les ai juste ajouté à
ma collection. Peut-être qu’un jour je comprendrais ce que ça
signifie, en attendant…

What was the best thing about working on "Harry Potter"?
Finishing it! It's one of those things where you go, "Thank god it's
all over!" and then you get to see the final production. But working
with everyone else was great fun. Working with big actors and realising that
they were just normal people who've got an incredible talent was just a great
experience.
How much gel do you have to put in your hair?
Tell me about it! It's not gel, it's cement! About a pot a day.
Is it fun playing a baddie?
Definitely. It felt a bit different really, because when you think of "Harry
Potter", you think it's a nice children's film starring nice characters.
But I'm the one that goes against all that. But I think Draco is always going
to be a real nasty little snob really!
Do you think that Harry and Draco can ever be friends?
Hopefully not, it'll ruin my part! No definitely not, I couldn't see it happening.
What was it like working with Daniel Radcliffe?
He's a very mischievous child. He was always causing havoc. He's on-set the
most and so I think he has to keep himself entertained by doing all this stuff
- borrowing people's mobile phones and setting the language to Turkish and
all kinds of stuff like that. He loves it.
Did you find the finished film frightening?
Too right! It was really bad, actually - everyone thinks I'm the dark hard
man and I'm like "uugh!" All those snakes jumping out all over the
place and everything !
Have you seen the Draco action figure yet?
Yes, my friends bought it as soon as they saw it and snapped my arms off and
bent my legs every way possible - so that was good fun!
Do you want a career as an actor?
Whatever life throws at me I'll take it and be grateful for it as well. I'd
like to own my own garage and my own fishery. I'd also like to be a professional
fisherman. But I'll take whatever happens.
What kind of fan mail do you get?
Most of the letters say the same stuff, but I like reading them all anyway.
Every letter I've got, I've read, and you do get the odd one that's different.
A Japanese woman sent me a wooden spoon for Christmas to wish me good luck.
The Japanese fans always send weird things. Some people have sent half-hearts
and broken crystals and all kinds of things, but I just add them to the collection.
Maybe one day I'll understand what it means, but until then...
